Artist's Comments

This is inside the Animal Kingdom at Disney World.

Full View to try and find as many of the animals as you can. List them if you find them :)

Thanks to a fellow deviant I now have some info on this:
-It's a Sculpture and therefore Not Real.
-It is 14 (145 feet) stories high & the canopy spreads over 150 feet, and the trunk is 170 feet in diameter.
-Created by more than 20 sculptors/artists
-It has between 325-400 animals carved into it (different sources say different numbers)
-There are 102,583 leaves on the tree, all man made and stemming from 7891 end branches.
-The leaves are all over a foot long.
-The colors of the bark are due to professional painters.
-It houses the 3D attraction "It's Tough to Be a Bug" which is a real fun experience.

Was it a honeymoon travel that brought you to WDW? If so, congrats. This tree is amazing. The artist(s) who created that have got some serious carving skills. I think it LOOKS real. It'd be a shame if it weren't.

No I went with my mom on the trip, and yes the tree is a work of art in itself...quite amazing!

I don't mean to offend you; I can't help having opinions AND a big mouth.

I like long walks on the beach; carcasses of dead marine life fascinate me.

Good ol' Mother/Daughter trip. :) I hope it wasn't too hot. Jesus, it's sweltering here in Ohio right now.

Well I live in Cali and I thought it was suffocatingly hot at times, but that was mostly in the Bahamas. It was sooo incredibly humid that we would step out onto our balcony and my glasses would fog up. Florida was hot and sticky too, but I was used to it by the time we got back from the cruise...(yea we went on a 1 week cruise out of and back into florida, stopped by WDW for 4 days, then swung by Alabama to visit relatives). A 2 week trip...I have one heck of a tan haha (and I paid dearly for it...major sunburn on our first port of call in Cozumel whilst scuba diving).

Ahh, that sounds like a great trip. I hate that kind of humidity. I've been to Mexico twice (Cancun) and I'm afraid I'll never have a chance to go back (airlines will be bankrupt soon). I just put up one of those cheapie pools today in my backyard so hopefully, I can work on my tan this summer. I have one more day of school left on Monday....

Beautiful place! But I am sorry to disappoint you, it is artificial. :(
:icononlyme722:
Yea it's a shame what's happened to the airline business and all of the crazy restrictions their implementing these days. Good luck with the tan and enjoy the pool! ;)

Yea I figured as much, but it certainly is a magnificent sight, eh? I'm just wondering how it is that the leaves look so real...how much do you know about it?

14-story sculpture, by more than 12 sculptors. 50-foot wide, 325 animal carvings! Phenomenal!
